LET US WALK YOU THROUGH OUR JOURNEY WITH
ANGUS & NATHAN FOR THEIR WEDDING AT NORTH CADBURY COURT

Before the wedding..

Our relationship goes way back with Angus & Nathan, actually to way before they were even engaged. Years ago, a family member of Brydn’s directed Angus to Brydn to photograph and film a choir event that Angus was organising. From there, the relationship blossomed and Angus got in touch again to photograph his engagement. The engagement was beautiful, on the top floor of a building in central London, looking over the city. Set up with petals, candles and champagne, Brydn was tucked away out of site while Angus & Nathan chatted for a bit, to then capture the moment Angus got down on on one knee. Of-course, Nathan said yes! And there we meet our first introduction to Nathan.

From that moment, the relationship continued between us, and Angus asked us to shoot his wedding at North Cadbury Court, Somerset. This is our first time introducing a recce to the process of our weddings. Brydn travelled down to Somerset via train and met Angus & Nathan at their venue. Scoping the venue out was a great decision because we got to work out how the day was going to pan out, meet the venue team and discuss what we needed to with them. Not only this, but it was a great chance to get to know one another, so by the time the wedding day come round, we were all in sync and good friends.

The morning of..

By the the time Grace & Brett's wedding day come around, we were all really familiar with one another and all genuinely so excited to celebrate the Champion's and capture some amazing wedding photography and video. We always like to arrive early, so we can unload our kit, secure a base for ourselves and then be ready in this case for the arrival of both the groom and bridal party. They got ready in an order where 90% of make-up and hair was completed first at a local hotel, and then completed the final touches at Silchester Farm where we could capture those parts. We always recommend to all of our couples we arrive once everything is nearly complete, as from our experience, not many people want themselves photographed before you're all glammed' up!

So Brett and his groomsmen arrive first, followed shortly by the bridal party. It was logistically planned with us so we could make sure they didn't see one another, but we also get our shots. We took the groomsmen for a groomsmen photoshoot and video shoot before the ceremony, so it could save time later on in the day for them to spend with their guests instead. We then joined Grace and the bridal party before and after getting in to their dresses, and also managed to capture the guests arriving, including some lovely moments of the father of the groom waiting to see the daughter he was handing away that day.

Mean-while, Grace & Brett purchased drone coverage, meaning our wedding drone pilot was on hand capturing lovely wedding drone shots to feature within our film

LET US WALK YOU THROUGH OUR JOURNEY WITH
GRACE & BRETT FOR THEIR WEDDING AT SILCHESTER FARM

Before the wedding..

HOW WE MET THEM (ENGAGEMENT)

We first met Grace & Brett when the found us and reached out to tell their story. We began our journey over Zoom, like most did during lockdown. From that initial call, they immediately knew they wanted to work with us, and that feeling was mutual. Fun, enthusiastic and like-minded, we knew filming and photographing their wedding day was going to be an absolute blast.

From here, once the paperwork and intricacies were completed, we always want to make sure we've met our couples in person so we've got to know them, and also make sure we've seen the wedding venue if we haven't been there before. We first met them at the pub in central London for a proper get to know eachother session over a few pints, and by the end of this we'd all secured the confidence that working together was going to be an absolute blast!

After this, we all decided to meet up at Silchester Farm wedding venue to walk through the day, discuss any plans they might be doing especially, and also really importantly, meet the venue staff so we know who we're going to be working with on the day as a team.

The pre-wedding couples photography & video shoot

Then, of-course COVID-19 hit and Angus & Nathan unfortunately had to postpone their wedding. We did everything we could to ensure it was as smooth as possible for them with re-booking dates and keeping in communication to ensure were still familiar when the new date comes around. One thing we offered was a pre-wedding couples photoshoot and video shoot. It was a great chance for them to firstly meet Ian, but also to practise some fun shots that we’d put into the wedding day couples photoshoot. We had an absolute blast in the summer sunshine, but also the extra positive vibes were increased due to being in-between two different lockdowns, the sense of freedom was fantastic.

The evening before..

As part of Angus & Nathan’s bespoke wedding video and photography package, we agreed we would travel down the day before the wedding so we can capture their evening meal with the close family and friends, as well as be involved. We were absolutely honoured to have been invited to the evening meal as friends, but also was a great opportunity to break the ice with a large number of the guests before the wedding day, meaning more comfortable and relaxed content for all.

One big change that happened within our own team was Ian came down with COVID-19 two nights before we were travelling. This disappointing for all, however due to the nature in the way Unveil Weddings UK work, we had cover sorted before even breaking the news to Angus & Nathan. Rob stepped in, and Brydn changed from taking photos to shooting video alongside our own Nathan (many Nathan’s around).

The morning of..

The morning of the wedding was stunning. The sunrise was beautiful, so we had to get up early and capture drone content of the venue when that was taking place. What was beautiful about getting up early was we captured the morning mist across North Cadbury Court, as well as the cows and any early guests up and exploring themselves. It meant for us we knew we’d signed off a few shots before the day had even started and captured the bonus beauty of the venue that might have been missed when travelling the morning of.

The beauty of North Cadbury Court was that you can hire the venue completely to yourselves. Angus & Nathan were getting ready just next door to the entire guests we were required to capture, which mean pure relaxation and fun for the entire morning. Being a gay wedding, Angus & Nathan actually got ready together with their groomsmaids in the same room and was a really unique scenario that we enjoyed so much. We had lots of time to capture everyone in the room doing their parts to ensure the day was running smoothly, from make-up to champagne deliveries and button hole flowers, we got it.

The ceremony..

This ceremony was quite a tight room, but due to the extended time we had, we were able to work closely with the venue and Angus & Nathan themselves to ensure we weren’t in the way, but had the angles we needed. We had a plan to ensure we captured both Angus & Nathan walking down the stunning staircase with their parties and mothers, it was a really touching moment.

We had microphones on both grooms, the registrar and stand where the readings would happen, as we for this wedding were filming both the highlights wedding film and full wedding film. The two camera video set-up as well allowed two angles of everything throughout the entire day.

We captured all walking down the aisle, then moving round the back to ensure we were a distraction, while our wedding photographer floated around to ensure all key elements were captured too.  Our job when the wedding ceremony is taking place is to be as discrete as possible, but mobile enough to capture lots of wonderful angles.

Confetti & Group Photography..

Right after the ceremony is a key time to be organised and ready for the confetti and the group shots. The confetti shot takes a little bit of time to organise, so we usually ask some help from either your toastmaster, or on this occasion the groomsmen and grooms maids. We like to ensure everyone has some confetti in their hands and everyone is on a cohesive line, so the confetti photography and video looks amazing. The grounds of North Cadbury Court allowed for an absolutely stunning background for the confetti run.

As a tip, we ask you to have a list of group shots to a number totalling to 10 or less. The reason being it can be very time consuming, and usually would end up then reducing our time in the wedding couples shoot, which is really important for the film and photography. We're experienced in what looks great, and will happily organise the group shots to what looks best, and of-course more than happy to take guidance on something you've seen before. However, for the big group shot, it would be rude not to get the wedding drone video of everyone celebrating together, right?

The couple's shoot & wedding reception..

The wedding couples shoot was amazing, utilising the lake on the grounds of the North Cadbury Court. We took a stroll and a skip with the venue in the background, then making our way directly to the killer shot, the pedalo on the lake. We had the drone out for the couples shoot to create some magical shots for the film, as well as our crew getting on a boat themselves to capture some shots on the water. We were limited with time in the end, so we finished up with a key shot Angus & Nathan wanted when we spoke on the recce, which was the gates at the front of the venue. We had a blast!

In this particular wedding photography and video package, there were three crew members, so when on the couples photoshoot, there was a still a team member with the guests at the reception.

The wedding breakfast & speeches..

While the wedding breakfast is being prepared, we usually nip in to get our camera and audio kit set-up and ready to go for the entrance of the newlyweds and speeches. Then once we're all ready, the guests enter and Angus & Nathan were introduced. We're on hand to capture all the entrance photography and video, which then went into the speeches after some food. At the point catering begins, we tend to have a rest and have some food too, as no one wants to be filmed or photographed while eating.

The speeches were amazing, detailed and really structured so well that we could use them really nicely for our wedding highlights film. We ensure to capture the full speeches as a standard, so later down the line if you want a speech video from your wedding we can always say yes. The two angles allows us to cut and make changes in the edit freely and also means we have one camera on the go at all times, whilst the second videographer floats around capturing a second angle as well as guest reactions.

The evening antics, cake cutting and first dance..

Angus & Nathan wanted to ensure they capture their cake cutting on the piano where they’d set-up lots of photos of family members who unfortunately couldn’t make it, so they were still involved. They had a lovely moment that we were on hand to capture.

Then the first dance, what can we say! Straight up incredible. They rehearsed a full dance, entering the dance floor from separate corners, meeting in the middle and finishing up with a lift. It was so fabulous to capture on both photography and film. We like to circle the guests around the dance floor so we can see all the wonderful reactions of the guests enjoying the dance too.

After this, it’s just pure fun capturing everyone really letting loose. Because we were staying overnight again for the next morning, we were able to stay later and get involved. We put our cameras away at the request of Angus & Nathan and joined in the party into the night.

The finale..

As part of the bespoke wedding package we made for Angus & Nathan, we agreed to stay the next morning and capture guests having breakfast and discussing the night before. It was really great way to finish a wedding for all, as usually everyone travels back and only can discuss at the next meeting. This was a great way for everyone to talk about their version of events of how the day unfolded and we really enjoyed the experience of the entire weekend.
